I Wish We Never Had To Leave, Part I

This is what you want to say when you get back from a trip, and upon our return from our 5th anniversary trip to Playa Mujeres, I had a serious case of post-vacation crankiness. It lasted a week. Who am I kidding? I am still bitter I am not in Mexico!

We stayed at the La Amada, a resort just north of Cancun, but our trip was anything but Spring Break. Upon arrival we were welcomed into a gorgeous, airy lobby and given champagne to sip while we checked in, and then we were lead to our room. Our room opened out to the pool. We literally had a swim-up suite. The room was dreamy, with a huge shower (what's up, rain shower head?) that had an enticing view of the pool. Waiting for us in the room were chocolate-covered strawberries and a sweet note from the hotel.

Those are my feet pointing to our room!

The rest of the trip was spent lounging poolside or at the beach.

Those lounges are everywhere. They are literally outdoor beds. This place is free of rickety, uncomfy beach chairs.

Each morning, we hit up the amazing breakfast buffet with its Iron Chef-like daily food item feature. My favorite was carrot. Mr. Foxy liked mango. We went off the resort to visit Isla Mujeres (and eat the best chile relleno ever), and, of course, hit up the resort's spa.

The spa was amazing. There was something called the Aqua Viva hydrotherapy circuit where you went from steam room to four different sensation showers to sauna to ice bath to a special pool to a hot stone bed for a head and neck massage. After that, I had a deep tissue massage. It was enough to make me weep.

Almost every night, we walked down to the beach and would sit staring up at the sky. It was magical, sitting there in the moonlight and seeing all the stars, listening to the ocean, and feeling as though we were the only two for miles around.

The La Amada would be amazing for a wedding or honeymoon - check the La Amada for info!

Check back tomorrow for Part II, and for my new favorite drink - the Michelada!
