Vintage Inspiration: Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Part I

I am a total TCM addict. Old films are the best!

I especially adore the Marilyn Monroe/Jane Russell pairing in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. Jane Russell's character is my favorite - a no BS sister with a great sense of humor. In each scene, both women are kitted out in some stunning clothes.

The move is filled with some seriously inspirational imagery for an old Hollywood glamour event, so much so that I am gonna do more than one post! The most obvious is the double wedding at the end - cage veils and the tea length full-skirted dresses with lace bodices are traditional and sassy at the same time:

And top it off with a divine cage veil from One Little Dove.

If you are not on the tea length dress tip, a long gown (like this one by Amy Michelson) reminds me of the dress that Marilyn and Jane wore! The look is interpreted with the same softness in the skirt and the lace bodice, but updated with a way sexier neckline and modern lace detail. It would look fierce with a cage veil or a fascinator.
